Red nordic pattern prints

About

Learn how to create, carve and print a linocut block inspired by Chatsworth’s Nordic Christmas. In this hands-on workshop, you will have the opportunity to print wrapping paper, Christmas cards and gift tags with your own beautiful Nordic-inspired design.

This introductory workshop explores one of the many techniques of printmaking. Linocut is a relief printing technique, a variant of woodcut in which a sheet of linoleum is used as the relief surface. The design is then cut into the linoleum surface with a selection of specialist tools, and printed using a selection of prepared printing ink.

You will be shown how to produce a lino print and then invited to experiment with this printmaking process. You will be given the opportunity to overlay and combine colours and prepare surfaces on which to print.

At the end of the session, you'll have a series of paper based prints in your own design and a lino block you can take away with you to continue print making at home.

The workshop price includes all materials, entrance to the garden on the day, a picnic lunch from the estate farm shop and tea and coffee.

No previous experience of printmaking is required. Please be aware that this workshop is intended for adults only (18+).

The workshop takes place in The Old Potting Shed, which is accessible from the garden.
