Sunday 12 May
Calling all hikers, can you face the challenge of the 34 mile Chesterfield Round Walk? The route circles the town and offers every type of walking with some great views – although you don’t get long to enjoy them on this fast paced walk that covers all 34 miles in just 12 hours.
For something less strenuous, take a 4 mile walk in woodlands that aren’t currently open to the public to see Springtime on the Hardwick estate. Climb to the Fabrick at Ashover – it’s said that you can see 6 counties from the top and the views are really worth the effort to get there. You’ll also see the earliest free standing industrial chimney in England on walk number 7.
The final walk on Sunday is a short walk round Chesterfield led by historian John Fletcher Taylor discovering the myths and legends that surround the town. If you thought you knew Chesterfield, think again!
Whether you’re a hiker looking for a challenge, or a stroller looking for something shorter, there’s walk on the second day of the Festival to suit you.
