Useful Information
- Please wear sensible footwear and clothing and a have a waterproof as the weather is often unpredictable.
- Please carry a drink.
- Walk leaders reserve the right not to take a person who is not properly equipped or who is, in their opinion, unfit.
- In poor weather the walk may be modified by the leader or, in extreme conditions, it may be cancelled.
- Young walkers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
- Walks will start promptly and all those taking part do so at their own risk.
- Dogs are allowed on some walks but please keep them on a lead and ensure you have sufficient supplies for them.
On some walks, you can reach the starting point by public transport (check the details on each walk). Please be aware that bus times are subject to change so please check details at Chesterfield Visitor Information Centre when booking tickets or online here.
If parking in Chesterfield town centre, you can purchase parking scratch cards allowing you to park for £3.80 for the whole day in any Chesterfield Borough Council surface car park. Ask for more details at Chesterfield Visitor Information Centre.
Booking Your Walk
For safety reasons, numbers are limited on every walk, so please book early. You can book online via this website or by visiting Chesterfield Visitor Information Centre or calling us 01246 345777.
If you can no longer make a walk you have booked for please let us know by calling us on 01246 345777 we can therefore offer the place to someone else.
Walk Grading
Each walk has been assessed and graded for difficulty. Grades are provided as a general guide only. You should also bear in mind the distance of the walk and the possibility of bad weather, which can make a walk more difficult than planned.
Easy Access – Suitable for people with conventional wheelchairs and pushchairs. Assistance may be needed to push wheelchairs on some sections.
Easy – Walks for anyone who does not have mobility difficulty or specific health problems, or is seriously unfit.
Leisurely – Walks for reasonably fit people with at least a little country walking experience
Moderate – Walks for people with country walking experience and a good level of fitness.
Strenuous – Walks for experience country walkers with an above average fitness level.
