All Walks
Explore the highlights of the Chesterfield area on one of our many guided walks and with a vast range available there is something for everyone.
Whether you prefer a gentle stroll through local parkland or fancy a more challenging 10-mile ramble along old railway track beds, the Chesterfield Walking Festival provides the perfect opportunity to get out and about.
The Chesterfield Round walk boasts an impressive 34-mile route and whilst the more experienced ramblers often opt to complete the whole distance, there is the option to leave at any point along the way.
There is plenty to do as a family throughout the 8-day festival, including the Queen’s Park Buggy walk which allows even the youngest among us to get involved. Why not work as a team to help tidy up the town as part of the ‘Let’s Clean Up Chesterfield’ walk or enjoy a steady meander through Eastwood Park and its wonderful play area during the Accessible and Friendly walk?
The historic wonders of the area are the focal point for many of the walks, particularly the walking tour of Chesterfield Museum’s collection at Calow Lane and the journey through Hardwick’s wider estate. Take a trip back through time with the Friends of Spital Cemetery and learn all about the industrialists and inventors buried there or wander through the town centre hearing all about our prominent black and white buildings.
Develop a deeper appreciation of all nature has to offer as you take part in the Japanese practice of forest bathing or during the Bumblebee safari where you’ll learn all about the important role of our fuzzy friends whilst trying to spot them.
Most walks are free or are taking donations for great causes and all are led by a fully trained guide who knows the history, wildlife and the best countryside to walk through (as well as the best pubs to visit) in the beautiful Chesterfield landscape.
