About

An easy walk, mainly along well defend trails to celebrate the areas recovery from its industrial heritage. On the first section of the walk we shall how newly created tracks and trails have been created, more as wildlife corridors, to allow us to explore how an extensively industrialised areas is being recovered to accommodate modern life. We shall then return via a similar route this time using tracks and trails evolved from defunct canals and railways.

Road Directions

From North/South Leave M1 motorway at junction 29A and take A6192 (signposted Staveley and Chesterfield). Follow road for 1½ miles and turn left into Meadows Drive. Take first left turn into Pavilion Drive and follow road into Poolsbrook Country Park car park.

From East Follow A617 to M1 motorway. At roundabout take 4th exit (M1 north). Leave M1 motorway at next junction (29A) and follow route from North/South.

From West Follow A619 into Chesterfield. At Matalan roundabout (traffic light controlled) select middle lane and take 3rd exit. At traffic lights keep left and go straight on. At roundabout select right hand lane and take 3rd exit. At next roundabout (traffic light controlled) select left lane and take 2nd exit (A617). Follow road to motorway junction and, at roundabout take first exit (M1 north). Leave M1 motorway at next junction (29A) and follow route from North/South.
