Downstairs at Revolution House with greenery swag, kissing bough and 12 Drummers Drumming flower arrangement.

About

See Revolution House decorated for a 17th Century Christmas with displays of greenery, a kissing bough, and colourful flower arrangements created by our volunteers.

The exhibitionon the first floor, and the flowers throughout the House, are based on the 12 Days of Christmas. Can you find all twelve of the flower arrangements?

The House takes its name from the Revolution of 1688. Three hundred years ago this cottage was an alehouse - the 'Cock and Pynot' (pynot is a dialect word for magpie) - and it was here that three local noblemen - the Earl of Devonshire (from nearby Chatsworth), the Earl of Danby and Mr John D'Arcy (son of the Earl of Holderness), met to begin planning their part in events which led to the overthrow of King James II in favour of William and Mary of Orange.

Watch a video which tells the story of the Revolution.

Entry to the house and garden is free, however donations are welcomed to help us to keep the House open and deliver more great events.

There is disabled access to the ground floor only. Scroll down the page to find our full accessibility guide.
