Sunday 14 May
What better way to spend a Sunday in spring than by roaming the Great British countryside.
The biggest walk of the festival takes place on this day which is the infamous Chesterfield Round – a 34-mile trek completely encircling the town of Chesterfield. Providing a taster of every type of walking, this trail gives you the opportunity to pass through ancient industrial remains, woods and reservoirs whilst also providing some spectacular views of the Spire. You are welcome to attempt the whole route or leave at the point which suits you best.
There is also the opportunity to give back to the community by taking part in the ‘Let’s Clean Up Chesterfield’ walk through town centre where as a group you will be collecting and disposing of any litter. This is a family friendly event so the younger generation are encouraged to join in and do their bit for the environment.
If you fancy a more leisurely outing, the Royal, Railways, Rother and Return walk is for you. This 4-mile route transverses fields and quiet woodland paths through Tapton golf course, the Chesterfield Royal Hospital grounds and alongside the river Rother.
