Friday 20 May
There’s lots to choose from on the seventh day of the Festival, starting with the first 21 mile stretch of the Bolsover Boundary Walk, from Peter Fidler Nature Reserve to Creswell Train Station.
The coal mines were a way of life in times past but coal mining was a dangerous job. Markham Colliery suffered three disasters during its working life and our Tale of Two Pits walk includes historical commentary and an exploration of memorials for coal miners involved in the disasters.
Set out on the buggy walk around Queen’s Park – ideal for parents or carers of babies and little ones, or explore Renishaw Hall Gardens in the company of the Head Gardener.
Chesterfield Builders and Victorian Grand Designs looks at the work of three lesser known architects who are responsible for some of Chesterfield’s well known Victorian buildings.
Combine a walk with a narrowboat trip on along the Chesterfield Canal. Either cruise outward and walk back, or set out on foot and cruise back.
Short walks and challenges combine today with something for everyone.
