This ancient custom only takes place in Derbyshire, and is the art of decorating springs and wells with pictures made from natural materials.
Although Wadshelf was mentioned in the Domesday book this is our very first Well Dressing.

Road Directions
From North/South Leave M1 motorway at junction 29 and follow A617 to Chesterfield (approx 4 miles). At roundabout select left lane and take 3rd exit. At next roundabout select left lane and take 1st exit (continuous lane). At traffic lights select middle lane and go straight on. Keep in left lane and at Matalan roundabout (traffic light controlled) take 2nd exit. At next roundabout (Morrison's) select right hand lane and take 2nd exit (A619). Continue for approximately 3.2 miles and then turn right onto Main Road the Village Hall will be on your left after 200 ft.
From East Take A617 to M1 motorway junction, then follow route from North/South.
From West Take A619 to Chesterfield. Pass Highwayman Pub on right. Continue on A619 to Chesterfield and, at traffic lights and go straight on. After ½ mile, turn left onto Main Road and the Village Hall will be on your left after 200 ft.
