About
The Real Thing with original vocalists Chris Amoo and Dave Smith are on tour promoting their first new album of original material in 44 years ‘A Brand New Day‘ - No 3 in Amazon best sellers.
They also have their new soulful single ‘Hang on Never Let Go’ which is subject to heavy radio & TV promotion. The track will be special for all the lovers who grew up listening to their classic hits.
On the reverse of this single is a live version of their classic composition ‘Children of the Ghetto’ which has been covered by the likes of Courtney Pine, Paul Hardcastle, Mart J Blige & Philip Bailey. This is the first time that a recording of this track has been made featuring lead vocals by Chris Amoo.
The Real Thing enjoyed success in both the 70s & 80s with 3 Top 10 singles. The No 1 Hit ‘You to Me Are Everything' ‘Can't Get by Without You' & ‘Can You Feel the Force ‘ and all these tracks are still featured daily on all the major UK Radio stations. They also have around one million plays or more on Spotify each month.
They also had a hit movie ‘Everything’ which played nationally in cinemas and was also aired on TV BBC Chanel 4 in August 2020. This was followed by their Greatest Hits Album which made the official National Album charts and reached No 2 in the Amazon download charts.

Road Directions
The Winding Wheel is in Chesterfield town centre and there are many nearby car parks. The directions below are to the nearest car park
From North/South Leave M1 at junction 29 and follow A617 to Chesterfield (approx 4 miles). At roundabout select middle lane and take 3rd exit. At next roundabout select right hand lane and take 2nd exit (Lordsmill Street). Keep to right hand lane and go straight on through traffic lights and round back of 'Crooked Spire' Church. Select right hand lane and go straight on at 1st and 2nd set of traffic lights, approaching large roundabout with car park in middle. Keep to right hand lane and turn right into car park (Holywell Cross).
From East Follow A617 to junction with M1 motorway, then follow route from North/South.
From West Follow A619 to Chesterfield. At traffic light controlled roundabout (Matalan) select middle lane and take 3rd exit. Keep to left lane and, at traffic lights, go straight on. At next roundabout select left lane and take 1st exit (Lordsmill Street). Select right hand lane, then follow route from North/South.
