About

An ancient custom that's only found in Derbyshire. At its simplest, well dressing is the art of decorating springs and wells with pictures made from natural materials.

Come and see the beautiful 'pictures in petals' (and other natural materials) on display at Pleasley. There are 3 Wells on display.

There will also be a Flower Festival and refreshments in the Church daily during the Well Dressing from 10am until 5pm. There will be stalls outside the Church on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 July. Pleasley Welfare Colliery Band will be playing on Sunday 15 July at 2.30pm.

Road Directions

From North/South Leave M1at junction 29 and follow A617 towards Mansfield for approx 3¾ miles. At roundabout take 2nd exit B6407 (Common Lane). Take 1st road on right (Outgang Lane) and 1st right again (Church Lane). Church is approx. 100 yards down road on right.

 

From East Follow A617 from Mansfield to Pleasley roundabout. Take 4th exit B6407 (Common Lane). Take 1st road on right (Outgang Lane) and 1st right again (Church Lane). Church is approx. 100 yards down road on right.

 

From West Follow A619 to Chesterfield. At traffic light controlled roundabout (Matalan) select middle lane and take 3rd exit. Stay in left land and, at traffic lights go straight on. Select right hand lane and, at roundabout take 3rd exit. At next roundabout (traffic light controlled) select left lane and take 2nd exit (A617). Follow A617 to M1 roundabout, select left lane and take 3rd exit (A617 towards Mansfield), then follow route from North/South.

Nearest train station Mansfield 3 miles away

Pronto bus from Chesterfield Coach Station twice per hour. Bus stops in village so will need to take footpath across A617 to reach Church.
