About

A 10 mile circular walk from Ogston Reservoir, which is great for bird watching, via Brackenfield, then south to Crich (the home of the Tramway Museum) and on through Wessington, returning via South Wingfield using a combination of footpaths and roads in North East Derbyshire.

Road Directions

From North/South Leave M1 motorway at junction 29 and follow A617 to Chesterfield (approx 4 miles), At traffic light controlled roundabout select left lane and take 1st exit (A61 signposted Derby). Follow road through Clay Cross and into Stretton. Turn right just after Tiddlers Nursery (B6014).  Follow road for approx 2 miles then turn left into Quarry Lane. Follow road to left, hugging reservoir, past Sailing Club and into the West Bank Car Park.

From East Follow A617 to M1 motorway junction and take 3rd exit (A617, signposted Chesterfield) then follow route from North/South.

From West Follow A619 to Chesterfield. At traffic light controlled roundabout (Matalan) select middle lane and take 3rd exit. Keep in left lane and, at traffic lights, go straight on. Select right hand lane and, at roundabout, take 3rd exit. At next roundabout (traffic light controlled) select right lane and take 3rd exit (A61, signposted Derby), then follow route from North/South.
