About

We start on a 1 mile walk around The Avenue Country Park exploring the nature around us.

At the end of the walk you will get a chance to do some bug netting and have a go at identifying what insects are roaming through the grasses. You will also get to have a go at pond dipping and see what creatures are hiding below the water!

Bring binoculars if you have them. Sturdy footwear advised.

Road Directions

From North/South Leave M1 motorway at junction 29 and follow A617 to Chesterfield (approx 4 miles). At traffic light controlled roundabout select left lane and take 1st exit (A61 signposted Derby). Go straight on at 3 sets of traffic lights, then continue on A61 to roundabout and take 1st exit (Hornbeam Drive). Follow road to the Avenue country park.

From East Follow A617 to M1 motorway junction then follow route from North/South.

From West Follow A619 to Chesterfield . At traffic light controlled roundabout (Matalan) select middle lane and take 3rd exit. Keep in left lane and, at traffic lights go straight on. Select right hand lane and at roundabout take 3rd exit. At next roundabout (traffic light controlled) select right hand lane and take 3rd exit (A61 signposted Derby), then follow route from North/South.
