Christmas at Hardwick

Find plenty of Christmas cheer at Hardwick. Spot the snowmen as you arrive, snap a family photo in our sleigh, see the house sparkle and discover a few surprises along the way. The Stables shop has gifts for all the family and in the Great Barn restaurant indulge in a festive treat.

Spot the snowmen

As you wind your way up the drive to Hardwick, look out for our special snowmen dressed in their finery. How many can you spot?

All lit up

Step into the Hall  amidst an abundance of lights and magical scenes not to forget.

As you walk through the entrance hall, two 16ft sparkling Christmas trees welcome you. Lights of all kinds will keep the Hall aglow as you make your way up the stairs and through the rooms opened up especially for Christmas. The theme of advent and the anticipation of Christmas follows throughout and young visitors can pick up an advent trail to take around with them.

In the Drawing Room and Dining Room we've some special surprises waiting for you.

Get Christmas crafty

Below stairs in the serving room craft activities will be available for children to join in with every weekend,11.30am - 3pm. Suitable for all ages, the first four weekends will be making Christmas decorations using upcycled materials, and on the last weekend there will be reindeer headbands. There's a small donation of 50p per item suggested.

The festive feel continues outside

Outside, the path along the West Court is adorned with specially made willow sculptures each for you to peep inside to discover a Christmas surprise. The teardrop sculpture designs have been modelled on one of the motifs carved around the windows of the Hall. See if you can spot the inspiration.

Photo time

Out on the lawn of the South Terrace will be our sleigh pulled by willow reindeer. Hop in for a festive photo.

The theme of advent continues out into the park where a trail of discs are hidden amongst the trees along Lady Spencer's Walk, revealing how we look after the park.

This year we have created an outdoors undercover eating area where the plants sales shop is normally to be found. You can enjoy a snack and a drink from the kiosk away from the elements. Dogs are welcome.

Trees, gingerbread and gifts

In the Stableyard you can buy your Christmas tree from the cartshed. We have a range of types, shapes and sizes available and by purchasing your tree from us you will be helping to look after Hardwick.

The shop has all sorts of things to choose from that make for some lovely gifts with a selection for foodies, gardeners, outdoors lovers, home birds, fashionistas and more. There is also a great range of decorations and Christmas cards.

To put the final sparkle to your visit, head to the Great Barn restaurant for a festive treat or seasonal bite. Whilst you're there, don't forget to look out for our centrepiece ginderbread house, created by the team at Hardwick.

Escape to the quiet

If you are looking for a break from the busyness that this time of year brings, stretch your legs in the park, open everyday except Christmas day
