About

We follow the canal to Staveley Town Basin. Then we pick up the Arkwright Trail before turning off to Poolsbrook Country Park. Here we take a coffee break using the café and toilet facilities. We turn off the trail to walk past Staveley Church picking up a path down to the canal via Constitution Hill bridge to return to Hollingwood Hub.

Road Directions

Hollingwood Hub is next to Hollingwood Lock, 4 miles along the canal from the centre of Chesterfield. It is on Works Road between Hollingwood and Barrow Hill.

Take the A619 which runs between Junction 30 on the M1 and the Tesco roundabout on the A61 through Chesterfield. Follow the brown Hollingwood Hub tourist signs from the A619 down Troughbrook Road. The car park is on Station Road, just before you get to the canal.

Public Transport Directions

By bus – catch the 90 bus which goes right past the Hub, click here for the timetable, or catch the 70, 71, 74, 77, 80 or 80A and walk down Troughbrook Road (10 minutes).
