About

Part of the Chesterfield Canal Walking Festival

From Hollingwood Hub, we shall walk a few metres to discuss the point where the Hollingwood Common underground Canal started, and its uses. A short section of road walking will take us to Ringwood Park then on to Westwood to access the disused rail bed, extending between Arkwright and Poolsbrook, at Bower Plantation.

A short walk along the rail bed will take us to the approximate location of the old Adelphi Iron Works where its connection with the Canal will be discussed. On then to Duckmanton, Poolsbrook and Woodthorpe before dropping down to the Norbriggs Cutting to discuss this section’s connection with the Canal. Back then to Hollingwood Hub via the canal towpath.
