Discover the art of the oldest craft in the world: Flintknapping. How did prehistoric people make tools to survive the Stone Age?
The aim of the day will be for attendees to go home with a variety of different stone tools they have made, new flintknapping skills and a new appreciation for prehistoric technology.
Dr James Dilley is an archaeologist and craftsman who specialises in prehistoric technologies with over 18 years of experience. James has worked with museums and heritage centres around the UK such as The British Museum and Stonehenge and alongside media companies such as the BBC, Channel 4, ITV, Smithsonian Channel and National Geographic.
Please note, this workshop is for ages 15+ and is not suitable for children.
Except in adverse weather, this event will take place outside: please wear suitable clothing and footwear for the conditions. We recommend comfortable, practical clothes and sturdy boots/shoes.

Road Directions
Parking £6 for all day
From North/South Leave M1 motorway at junction 30 and take A616. At next roundabout take 2nd exit and at next roundabout take 1st exit. At next roundabout take 2nd exit. Continue on A616 to traffic lights at awkward junction and bear left (A616). Continue on A616 passing under low bridge. Continue past rail station sign in Creswell then turn left at brown sign for Creswell Crags Visitor Centre (B6042, Crags Road). Follow road for approx ½ mile and turn right, then turn left into car park.
From East Follow A617 to the M1 motorway roundabout and take 4th exit (M1 north). Leave M1 at junction 30, then follow route from North/South.
From West Follow A619 to Chesterfield. At traffic light controlled roundabout (Matalan) select middle lane and take 3rd exit. Keep in left lane and at traffic lights go straight on. At next roundabout select right hand lane and take 3rd exit. At next roundabout select left lane and take 2nd exit (A617). In approx 4 miles reach M1 motorway roundabout. Select left lane and take 1st exit (M1 north). Leave M1 at junction 30 and follow route from North/South.
