Cowclose Farm

Barbara and Allan offer a warm welcome to their guests at their spacious farmhouse. Guest rooms are furnished to a high standard. The cows in the adjoining fields belong to a family member.

The Rose Room (ensuite) is a beautiful room with fantastic views.  It can have a Superking Bed or Twin Beds.  There is a generous hospitality tray, hairdrier, TV and Radio.  It takes its name from the roses which grow round the window.  Paintings by local artist, Sheila Gill decorate the walls.

The Orchid Room is a comfortable Twin Room with a separate private bathroom (not ensuite, just down the corridor).  We provide dressing gowns.  The view is over our garden and towards the Linacre Valley.  The window seat provides a relaxing space to either read, watch the birds and cows, or just relax.  There is a generous hospitality tray, TV and radio.  This room takes its name from the orchid pictures on the walls, taken by Allan at Kew Gardens.

The large Guest Lounge offers comfortable seating with TV, fridge and Wifi.  Breakfast is served in this room.  There is a woodburning stove for chilly evenings.  We have a large collection of maps and local information.  We are happy to make suggestions. This is peaceful location overlooking the Linacre Valley.  We have a collection of easy to follow walks from the door.

Many guests tell us that they rarely have a cooked Breakfast at home.  However, our  extensive BREAKFAST MENU  includes home and local produce not to be missed.  Barbara makes many of the items and enjoys catering for various diets. A favourite starter is Bramley Apple Rings cooked in fresh orange juice and honey.  Of course, we grow the apples.  We have a Breakfast Award from Visit England and a Silver Award which recognises our high standard of accommodation and customer service.

Garden.  We have several garden areas for you to enjoy.  They includes lawns, flower borders, vegetables, an orchard with a pond and a play area for young children.  Our latest addition is our new Summer House (affectionately called The Pod)  We plan to serve tea and homemade cakes, (and perhaps Breakfast) in The Pod.

Nearby.  Excellent food and local brews are served in our local pubs. A short drive takes you to Chatsworth House, the Peak District, Hardwick Hall (NT), Haddon Hall, Bolsover Castle or Renishaw Hall & Gardens, Chesterfield and Sheffield offer both shopping and leisure opportunities.  Chesterfield has both an indoor and outddoor market, and Sheffield has an indoor market.  Take a drive round the fascinating villages and enjoy a walk in The Peak District.

We offer an extensive welcome to everyone:
- Children Welcome.(travel cot, high chair, books and toys)
- Walkers welcome - drying facilities available.
- Bikers welcome - secure garage available.
- We are happy to cater for special dietary requirements.
- Non-smoking.  We are an environmental friendly business.
