Hasland Village Hall, in Eastwood Park, opened on 22 July 1914, a year after the Park opened. It was given for ‘the free use of the citizens of Chesterfield’ by Bernard C Lucas of Bristol, who’s family lived at Hasland Hall.

Over the years, the Hall has been used for school concerts, dances and wedding receptions, it’s also used by the Chesterfield Chrysanthemum and Dahlia Society for their annual show. During the Second World War, the Hall was used as a training centre by the Air Raid Precaution committee.

In 2008, an architect’s report on the Village Hall was commissioned. Eastwood Park was being refurbished and, as a landmark feature of the Park, the Hall needed updating. Many of the heritage features of the Hall were kept and the Village Hall was opened again at the Hasland Gala on 9 June 2013.

As well as use by the community, Hasland Gala will stage concerts and shows, making performance art accessible to the people of the wider Hasland area.
