An informal stroll on well surfaced paths, stopping at several viewpoints. Discover this wetland reserve situated in the valley of the river Rother. Learn about the management of this reserve on the site of the decommissioned Avenue coking works.

Leave M1 motorway at junction 29 and follow A617 to Chesterfield (approx 4 miles). At traffic light controlled roundabout select left lane and take 1st exit (A61 signposted Derby). Go straight on at 3 sets of traffic lights, then continue on A61 to Hunloke Arms pub on left. Continue on same road for approx ¼ mile taking left turn into Mill Lane. Follow road for approx 700 metres and entrance to Reserve is on right.
Follow A617 to M1 motorway junction then follow route from North/South.
Follow A619 to Chesterfield . At traffic light controlled roundabout (Lidl on left) select middle lane and take 3rd exit. Keep in left lane and, at traffic lights go straight on. Select right hand lane and at roundabout take 3rd exit. At next roundabout (traffic light controlled) select right hand lane and take 3rd exit (A61 signposted Derby), then follow route from North/South.
