Discover Butterflies trail!

Pleasley Pit has been transformed from a working Colliery into a local Nature Reserve and has some of the best habitat for butterflies in this area. Come along and join members of the local study group for a butterfly hunt!

This walk will meet at Pleasley Pit Car Park and is 2 miles long. Please wear suitable clothing and footwear.

At present there is a dedicated public car park and good signage for the site. Car parking is for both the Country Park and for the Pit Museum and is accessible through the main entrance at the top of Pit Lane.

From North/South
From M1 junction 29 follow A617 (Mansfield Road) towards Mansfield for approx 3¼ miles. At roundabout, select right lane and take 4th exit. Take 1st right into Pit Lane.

From East
Follow A617 from Mansfield to Pleasley roundabout. Take 1st exit then first right into Pit Lane.

From West
Follow A619 to Chesterfield. At traffic light controlled roundabout (Matalan) select middle lane and take 3rd exit. At traffic lights go straight on. Select right hand lane and, at roundabout take 3rd exit. At next roundabout select left lane and take 2nd exit (A617). Follow A617 to M1 roundabout, select left lane and take 3rd exit (A617 towards Mansfield), then follow route from North/South.
