Chesterfield is set in a valley dominated by water. These streams, brooks and rivers are inextricably linked to the wellbeing and enjoyment of the town’s citizens and the wealth of some of the town’s early industrialists. This walk will explore a waterside route out of the town along the Holmebrok Valley, skirting the major investment in council houses for Londoners and an open casting site transformed into a park. It then joins an ancient bridleway, returning via the Robinson land and their industrial buildings. If 10 miles is too far, there are several opportunities to catch the bus back to Chesterfield.
