Details

This walk starts and ends at Chesterfield Railway Station, talking in, on its way, a giant snail, ‘Mollusk’ by Liz Lemon, the site of the works where Markham made the tunnelling shields for the Channel Tunnel in the 1980s, the place where there was a Leper hospital, arriving at our midway point, the magnificent Victorian Garden Cemetery of Spital among trees, on a hillside, with its monuments and chapels. We return by another route that takes us under the A61 past the Twisted Spire where members might want to break off from the group to spend time in the town centre.
