Renishaw Hall is a house built on books, with a wide range of literary interests and connections over a period of almost 400 years. Each Sitwell generation has made its unique contribution to the literary legacy of the house and the family, some achieving considerable public acclaim. Learn about the literary aspirations and careers of the Sitwells, especially the 1920s -1960s famous 'literary trio' - Edith, Osbert and Sacheverell Sitwell.

From North/South
Leave M1 motorway at junction 30 and take A6135 (signposted Renishaw). Follow road for approx 2 miles, passing through village of Renishaw. Pass Sitwell Arms Hotel on right and follow road for just under a mile, turning left onto B6053. Take first left turning onto drive to Hall.

From East
Follow A617 to M1 motorway roundabout and take 4th exit (M1 north). Leave M1 at junction 30 and follow route from North/South.

From West
Follow A619 to Chesterfield. At traffic light controlled roundabout (Lidl on left) select middle lane and take 3rd exit. Keep in left lane and, at traffic lights, go straight on. At next roundabout select right hand lane and take 3rd exit. At next roundabout select left lane and take 2nd exit (A617). In approx 4 miles reach M1 motorway roundabout and take 1st exit (M1 north). Leave M1 at junction 30 and follow route from North/South.
