Aston-on-Trent Well Dressing at Aston-on-Trent

This ancient custom is unique to Derbyshire. There will be 9 wells dressed this year. Fingers crossed for some fabulous weather once again. We have a variety of entertainment this year on Saturday and Sunday plus an Acoustic performance by local bands on Sunday.
The opening ceremony is 11:15am on The Green including children's Heroes from History Fancy Dress competition. Children are invited to assemble on The Green in their costumes which could include Boudica, Horatio Nelson, Neil Armstrong to name a few for a chance to win a £15 voucher. Traditional fairground rides along The Green between The White Hart and The Smithy. Look out for new local produce and craft stalls as well as some old favourites old favourites. The annual well dressing grand prize draw will be drawn on Sunday during the Newhall band finale - 1st prize is £100 cash. Tickets only 50p, find us in the White Hart car park.

The well dressing weekend is packed full of fun for all the family. We have stalls, exhibition in the church, childrens entertainment, music and dancing and 9 beautiful well dressings.

The Green is on Derby Road in the centre of the village, just past All Saints Church. Free parking available at the playing fields on Shardlow Road, limited disabled parking available in the centre of the village.

From North/South : At M1, junction 24, take A50 west towards Derby. At 1st exit, signed to Castle Donington and Long Eaton, take 4th exit off roundabout, signed Shardlow. Follow road through Shardlow. At Dog and Duck Pub, turn left into Aston Lane. Continue along lane (approximately 1 mile) until you enter Aston-on-Trent. The Green is on Derby Road in the centre of the village just past All Saints Church. Follow signs for free parking and disabled parking.
From East : Head towards the M1, junction 24 on A6 or A453 and follow directions for North/South.
From West : Follow A50 eastwards towards M1. At junction 3 (A514) take 4th exit of roundabout towards Swarkestone. Take 2nd road on the left (signed Weston-on-Trent). Follow road through village (approximately 2 miles) continuing along into Aston-on-Trent. At T-junction turn left. The Green is on Derby Road. Follow signs for free parking and disabled parking.
