What's On in Chesterfield & Bolsover

From Well dressing to Chesterfield Market there are festivals and events to suit everyone

Chesterfield & Bolsover and the Peak District's Historic Border Country are home to a whole host of events.  The regular, and very popular, Chesterfield market, has been running since at least 1165 and market days are every Monday, Friday and Saturday all year round.

There are specialist events like the Cromford Steam Rally, Music Festivals and one-off events like the Chesterfield Festival (1-3 November 2012). There are country shows like the 'Friendly Show' at Ashover in August and the Chatsworth Country Fair in September. Then there are events around Chesterfield Market, including Holiday Markets on all the summer Bank Holiday Mondays, the Medieval Market (24 July 2012) and the Christmas Market.

Derbyshire and the UK's biggest procession

As well as events in Chesterfield, there are events held at attractions like Hardwick Hall, re-enactments at Bolsover Castle, explore the Ice Age at Creswell Crags, not to mention galas, carnivals, fireworks and plays. Finally there is Well Dressing, a custom so old that its roots are lost in the past.
