Ogston Reservoir
Ogston Reservoir is owned and managed by Severn Trent Water and is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Apart from the Reservoir there is a variety of other habitats including farmland and woodland, boasting many species of birds, including spring and autumn passage migrants. It has gained a reputation as one of the premier inland sites in the country to watch and record gull's at roost during the winter months. There is a public hide overlooking the Reservoir in the West Bank Car Park.

From North/South
Leave M1 motorway at junction 29 and follow A617 to Chesterfield (approx 4 miles). At traffic light controlled roundabout select left lane and take 1st exit (A61 signposted Derby). At 1st set of traffic lights (McDonalds) go straight on (A61). Go straight on at next 2 sets of traffic lights. Continue on A61 for approx 2 miles. At next 2 roundabouts take 2nd exit (A61). Keep to A61 through Clay Cross. At crossroads with traffic lights (George & Dragon Pub) go straight on (A61). Continue on A61 into Stretton. Turn right at White Bear Pub. Follow road for approx ¾ mile. Turn left (signposted Matlock). Follow road for approx 1 mile then turn left into Quarry Lane. Follow road to Public Car Park.
From East
Follow A617 to M1 motorway junction then follow route from North/South.
From West
Follow A619 to Chesterfield . At traffic light controlled roundabout (Lidl on left) select middle lane and take 3rd exit. Keep in left lane and, at traffic lights go straight on. When carriageway divides, select right hand lane and, at roundabout take 3rd exit. At next roundabout (traffic light controlled) select right hand lane and take 3rd exit (A61 signposted Derby). Then follow route from North/South.
