Built by Bess of Hardwick’s son Charles and finished by her grandson William, this 17th Century mansion looks like a fairytale castle. Visit the Little Keep, complete with its furnishings and decoration, and explore what’s left of the state rooms with a multimedia guide.

A stunning mansion built by Elizabeth, Countess of Shrewsbury, known locally as Bess of Hardwick. At first sight you understand the rhyme ‘Hardwick Hall, more glass than wall’ - the Hall is a testament to the Elizabethan fascination with symmetry and glass.
